This weekend is one of Canada's major holidays, Thanksgiving! Our office and daycare will be closed on Monday October 9th for Thanksgiving Day.

Here's a little history about Canadian Thanksgiving... This holiday is a time where we all come together to be thankful for the bountiful fall harvest. Did you know that before the arrival of the first European settlers, many First Nations peoples would gather to celebrate the fall harvest through prayer, feasting, dancing, and potlatch? It wasn't until 1578 that the first records mentioned a European version of a small Thanksgiving celebration observed by English explorer Martin Frobisher and crew aboard their ship in Frobisher Bay (modern day Nunavut). In modern days, family and friends take the day to gather around a large turkey dinner feast and discuss all that they are thankful for. What are you thankful for this year?
