The students of the evening Language Program at MJMC have been helping out at the community garden on Home Street recently, growing both food and friendships! The  Newcomer Welcome Centre runs a gardening program during the summer for newcomers to Canada, and this past Thursday the students helped with weeding the garden. Students said they enjoyed the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, and also enjoyed getting to know one another better.

If you are a newcomer to Canada, and you are interested in getting some hands-on gardening experience and meeting some new people, you are welcome to volunteer with the Garden Program! The group meets at the garden every Wednesday from 6-7 pm throughout the summer, and the Newcomer Welcome Centre is always happy for more help with weeding, watering, and eventually harvesting the produce. It's a great way to gain some valuable volunteer experience, while also learning how to grow food in Saskatchewan's climate. Registration is not required, but talk to Bo if you need more information at 306-692-6892. Otherwise, just meet Bo at the garden on Wednesdays, at 200 Home St W lots Q1 and R3.
