Black Lives Matter Public Service Annoucement - SAISIA
The battle to end racial discrimination and prejudice is an important mission we must all undertake together. As the Black Lives Matter movement extends its reach to all corners of the country and the world, the Saskatchewan Association of Immigrant Settlement and Integration Agencies takes a firm stance in solidarity with these peaceful protests in an effort to make our society a better place for all future generations. A society that provides equal opportunity, safety and equity for everyone despite ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
We need to acknowledge the social inequalities that exist and where they stem from. It is important that we take the time to listen, appreciate and embody the essence of anti-discrimination and anti-racist activities in our personal and professional lives. In order to move forward, we have to understand the systemic barriers that present themselves for Black, Indigenous and other racialized members of our society and work actively to dismantle those systems of oppression. We must come together from all corners of the community and recognize that we are much stronger together than we are apart.
We cannot be silent in the face of racism, discrimination and prejudice that are both overt and subtle. We cannot be silent when it comes to work of advocacy and support for our Black, Indigenous and racialized sisters and brothers who live the reality of systemic inequalities. We must listen to the stories and struggles that our Black, Indigenous and racialized sisters and brothers have experienced. We must build a world that is inclusive for everyone and work to combat the institutional barriers that exist unnecessarily and unfairly. At SAISIA, we understand that expressions of solidarity are meaningless if we do not actively confront and work on combatting sentiments of racism that exist in the communities around us. We must first look within and dismantle internal biases that exist and then we must turn our focus outwards to the people around us and engage in the championing of causes that promote anti-racist practices. We must recognize that we are all a part of the solution and we can all do our part to end racism wherever it present itself.

Le bataille pour mettre fin à la discrimination raciale et aux préjugés est une mission importante que nous devons tous entreprendre ensemble. Alors que le mouvement Black Lives Matter étend sa portée tous les pays et du monde, Le Saskatchewan Association of Immigrant Settlement and Integration Agencies prend une position ferme en solidarité avec ces manifestations paisible dans le but de faire notre société un meilleur endroit pour toutes les futures générations. Nous devons reconnaître les inégalités sociales qui existent. Il est important que nous prenions le temps d’écouter, d’apprécier et d’incarner l’essence des activités anti-discrimination et antiracistes dans notre vie personnelle et professionnelle. Pour aller de l’avant, nous devons comprendre les obstacles systémiques qui se présentent pour les Noirs, les Autochtones et d’autres membres racialisés de notre société et travailler activement au démantèlement de ces systèmes d’oppression. Nous devons nous réunir de tous les coins de la communauté et reconnaître que nous sommes plus forts ensembles que séparer.
Nous ne pouvons pas restez silencieuse face au racisme, à la discrimination et aux préjugés qui sont à la fois manifestes et subtils. Nous ne pouvons pas restez silencieuses lorsqu’il s’agit de défendre et de soutenir nos sœurs et nos frères noirs, autochtones et autres racialisés qui vivent la réalité des inégalités systémiques. Nous devons écouter les histoires et les luttes que nos sœurs et frères noirs, autochtones et d’autres racialisés ont vécues. Nous devons construire un monde inclusif pour tous et lutter contre les obstacles institutionnels qui existent inutilement et injustement. Chez SAISIA, nous comprenons que les expressions de solidarité n’ont aucun sens si nous ne nous confrontons pas activement et ne travaillons pas à combattre les sentiments de racisme qui existent dans les communautés qui nous entourent. Nous devons d’abord regarder à l’intérieur et démanteler les préjugés internes qui existent, puis nous devons nous concentrer vers les gens qui nous entourent et nous engager dans la défense de causes qui favorisent les pratiques antiracistes. Nous devons reconnaître que nous faisons tous partie de la solution et que nous pouvons tous faire notre part pour mettre fin au racisme partout où il se présente.
