Meet Ibrahim: one of MJMC’s most well-recognized clients. Ibrahim and his wife left Syria in 2012 due to the war and migrated to Turkey, where they lived for 9 years. In 2021, they moved to Canada along with their children and came to settle in Moose Jaw. As Ibrahim mentions in his interview, Canada is a very safe country where everyone can envision a bright future. When he came to Canada, the workers at the Multicultural Council happily welcomed him and helped him to find housing, get him registered in LINC classes, and encouraged him in every step of his settlement process. You will often see Ibrahim in the halls of MJMC as he greets everyone with a smile. He is always willing to help out his fellow newcomers when they first arrive and to share his story with community members. In the near future, Ibrahim and his wife hope to find jobs so that they may contribute more to our local economy. Their aspiration is that, one day, their children are able to pursue their educational training and become doctors or teachers, “or something like this”. We wish you and your family all the best Ibrahim! Thank you for sharing your story with us for our 50th anniversary!
